Professional training: Tony qualified as a Chartered Accountant with KPMG, passing all exams at the first attempt.

Career in business: After qualifying, he enhanced his experience of SMEs by staying in the profession for a further four years before moving to Do It All (Boots plc). He has subsequently worked as Finance Director for 3 SMEs, in the Manufacturing, Distribution and Service sectors and has enjoyed the trials of rapid growth and falling sales along with the working capital challenges that either generate.

He has experience in developing systems to cope with an explosion in transactions and as part of cost control, raised finance from private equity and grants, taken part in a MBO, and helped businesses find buyers or change direction. Identification and pursuit of cost savings without affecting service has been key.

Other Skills: Tony has also been an Operations Director and managed factories and sales for long periods as well as a spell as Managing Director.

Finance Director: Roles have included a manufacturing SME that was under pressure from foreign imports and being director of a distributing and 24/7service subsidiary of a foreign company that was going through 50% p.a. growth as well as heading up a pre-pack.

Other highlights: Amongst the more day to day tasks of directing finance, Tony has been heavily involved in : -
- Re-sourcing of unprofitable products to Far East
- Re-location of factories three times
- Negotiated significant cost savings with landlords and other suppliers
- Setting up new branches, with staff, systems etc.
- Installing IT systems in several different companies.

Personal life: Tony lives in Solihull and is married with two teenage daughters. His spare time is dedicated to sport and taxiing his children.
